Drink And Fight

Ah, once again a song about drinking is is the topic for this post.

Again, because of the lyrical subject matter, this song is often attributed to Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, and occasionally The Bouncing Souls, despite not sounding anything like any of those bands.

The song is actually called, quite simply, 'Irish Drinking Song', and is performed by Buck-O-Nine. It appears on their 1994 album "Songs In The Key Of Bree".

Buck-O-Nine, from California, has released several full length albums and have also made numerous appearances on various compilation cds. They're commonly classified as a third wave ska band, blending ska and punk attributes together. If you enjoy bands like Goldfinger, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, or Reel Big Fish, give Buck-O-Nine a listen. You'll like what you hear.

Until next time.

Fuck You I'm Drunk (F.Y.I.D.)

Ah, drinking songs. Is there anything better? This is a common song floating around p2p networks, and one of the songs I've almost never seen tagged properly.

Generally, this song is attributed to the band Flogging Molly and occasionally it'll be listed as Dropkick Murphys. While both of those bands do have songs with similar nature, they also vary quite musically. Sure, they do have the odd acoustic song here and there, but they tend to have more of a robust sound with a wider array of instruments. Additionally, the vocalist singing this song doesn't sound like anyone from either of those bands.

The song is actually by a band called Bondo. I can't find too much about them, other than they're from Chicago, and that the song F.Y.I.D. was released in 1998.

The closest I could find to a band website is here: http://www.fuckyouimdrunk.net/

Well hello there.

Turns out that there are some people who like to download music...From the internet! For Free! I know that you're probably as shocked and appalled as I am, but this blog isn't about whether or not downloading music is right or wrong. Instead, this is a blog about the music.

My main problem with a good number of songs found on the internet is that they're not tagged correctly. Countless songs are attributed to bands or artists who weren't at all involved, and the more they're shared and passed around, the less likely the original band is to get any recognition for their work. Most of the time there's a song about drinking in an Irish bar, Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly get the credit. If there's a comedic rock song, Tenacious D gets the nod... and don't even get me started on all of the parodies credited to Weird Al.

I don't know any of the artists this blog will cover, but if this collection of music geek rambling on the internet will help one of the bands whos songs have been attributed to someone else gain one new fan.. well, I'm happy.
